Fields of interest/specialization: Regional anesthesia, acute and chronic pain, translation of research results into clinical guidelines
Dr. Dîrzu is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care with advanced expertise in interventional pain management and regional anaesthesia. He is currently affiliated with the STAR-UBB Institute, focusing on translational research in acute and chronic pain, as well as the optimization of regional anaesthesia techniques. He serves as Senior Editor for Clinical Case Reports (Wiley) and Associate Editor for the International Journal of Clinical Practice, with a consistent and internationally recognized editorial activity. He is also a board member of the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA), actively contributing to the development of educational and scientific policies in the field at the European level. Alongside his clinical work, he is a trainer at national and international workshops on regional anaesthesia and pain therapy, playing a key role in the continuous education of future specialists. His research interests include: mechanisms of neuropathic pain, efficacy and safety of image-guided interventional techniques, and the integration of new technologies into the clinical practice of pain management. At UBB, he aims to develop a dedicated academic department of pain therapy and attract national and international research grants to support applied research in this field.
